I don't think there's any reason to believe he's gay. When asked about it he said it's something a lot of celebrities have to put up with, but he gets it more than the others because he never challenged the rumors and just let them continue.

Throughout his career, Ving Rhames’ sexuality has been questioned as he is no stranger to playing gay roles. In the film Holiday Heart () Rhames played the role of a gay black man who acts as a drag queen.

Rhames played a gay – and possibly also homicidal – firefighter who comes out of the closet in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. He narrates the BET television series American Gangster.
